Last night I again talked myself out of picking up Wilmshurst's Meaning of Masonry at Barnes & Noble. The price is right and it definitely promises to be an interesting and informative read, but I am still trying to avoid details about (and interpretations of) the degree rituals until I experience them myself.
So far I've done pretty well. I can't say that I don't know anything about what's in store, but I think that what details I have learned won't lessen my experience too much.
No word yet from the Secretary as to when my first degree may be rescheduled.

Go ahead and pick it up and think of it as a treat to come. no lie, it took me 5 years+ to really get Wilmshurst. in a way more superficially than the words on the page.
So go for it, and savor it for the night post degree.
Travel light.
